Wine Critics Notes:

Allen Meadows - Score: 93 (2017 April)

This particular bottle behaved almost counterintuitively as initially the nose was markedly floral with its cool and restrained aromas of mostly red berry fruit and underbrush nuances that displayed just a hint of secondary development. I say that it behaved somewhat counterintuitively because with air it became progressively reduced, something that is quite rare in my experience. Otherwise there is both excellent volume and mid-palate concentration to the seductively textured but muscular flavors that brim with sappy dry extract, all wrapped in a distinctly youthful, firm and lingering though distinctly robust and austere finish. This is not one of the more elegant vintages for this wine and despite the whiff of secondary character found on the nose, it's still a long way from its peak. In a word, patience.
